Chiropractic Care FAQ's

Chiropractic care is not a new practice, but we find that many people often have questions about how our practice works and what exactly we can help with. You’d be surprised by the wide array of ailments we can treat! From mental health issues such as traumas and stress, to sports injuries and automobile accident injuries, there is a treatment plan we can cater to you.

Below we’ve outlined a few of our most frequently asked questions to find out how our holistic-based chiropractic office can improve your day-to-day life:

Can Chiropractic help with TMJ?

While TMJ can be caused by and influenced by many factors, chiropractors have demonstrated great success with resolving the issue through adjustments and other features of their care plan. By assessing the spine, skull, and TMJ joints independently and specifically, the chiropractor can often find the cause of the stress being placed on the joint, increasing its dysfunction and ultimately leading to the symptoms. Adjustments, postural rehabilitation exercises, stretches, spinal curve correction methods, and many other modalities are utilized to help the body correct the dysfunction leading to the TMJ, allowing the problem to be resolved in the process.

Can Chiropractic help with vertigo?

While there are several causes of vertigo that chiropractors do not directly help with, there are several that they do and they are significantly more common than some of the more complicated pathologies that cause vertigo. Foot bones that are not moving properly causing your brain to literally lose touch with the ground you are walking on, leg length inequalities, both born-with and acquired, subluxations of the bones in the upper neck that are related to the ear, the brainstem, the pre-frontal cortex, and powerful nuclei in the brainstem and cerebellum - these are all reasons that a person could experience vertigo that chiropractic can help with without the use of medications or surgery.

Can Chiropractic help plantar fasciitis?

Absolutely! We see cases of plantar fasciitis resolve in our office weekly! All of our doctors are trained in the assessment and biomechanics of the foot, ankle, and knee to properly assess the entire region.  From there, in addition to chiropractic adjustments to the feet and ankles, the doctor will also typically recommend exercises and soft tissue treatments such as massage, laser, shockwave, or Graston technique to help resolve the issue, depending on the specific features of your case.  By helping to restore the arch of the foot, improve overall posture and biomechanics, and improve the movement of the bones and joints of the foot and ankle, plantar fasciitis often resolves in under 1 month in our care.

Are chiropractors covered by insurance?

Chiropractic care that is deemed "medically necessary" is covered by most major health insurers, but what does medically necessary mean?  Well, there are a few different parameters:

  • The condition needs to be acute, meaning it is swollen, painful, or recent due to trauma.
  • The condition needs to be showing signs of progress under a care plan.
  • The patient needs to be seen at regular intervals according to the care plan, often at least 1 time per week.

Chiropractic is also something that we recommend people keep doing, much like exercise and eating well. Unfortunately, insurers often do not see the value in covering maintenance care and consider it an "elective procedure", meaning it will be an out-of-pocket expense.  Fortunately for you, chiropractic is one of the most affordable and cost-effective services in the health and wellness space!

Overall, our goal is to offer you safe and effective solutions that can improve your quality of life.
